Its not worth but a must, 500 crafting will let u make ascended quality armors this can be considered the best quality in game atm due to their stats are equal to legendaries but they can't freely change stats. If u want to do high level fractals or raid or any endgame contents seriously then 500 is a must.Even thought I am 80 with full Ascended gear, I still find teh content fun and engaging, even in the "starter zones." The other piece of advice is to join a good guild if you haven't already. They can help you with the harder stuff, and they come in handy at the end of your Personal Story when you have to do the story instance of Arah.
I've been playing the game for a couple of weeks now. I'm still working on my ascended trinkets. So far, I have only two and I'm planning to craft ascended armors and weapons later on. However, I'm finding it hard to level my discipline faster. My leatherworker still sitting at 22 and others are even lower.

The fastest path for PvE players is Tier 4 fractals, but is also both: subject to loot rng as well as requires a first full armor set of ascended gear. Crafting is often the most expensive, but fastest/ most strait forward way to get ascended gear. That said, people do still run dungeons for various reasons. There's no reason you can't, especially if there's some dungeon gear you want. Other than that, the game pretty much begins at level 80, since 1-79 is basically just an extended tutorial these days.
